Oolong Diet Tea

About Oolong Diet Teas
Tea is a refreshing beverage that is naturally free of sodium, fat, sugar, and carbonation - and it is virtually calorie-free. Not only can tea be used to help maintain overall good health and keep the body hydrated, but it is also an effective addition to your weight management program. Oolong tea, in particular, has become the front runner of teas known for aiding in weight loss.

Findings
Every day, new findings from the international scientific community lend credibility to tea’s long-purported healthful properties. Specifically, oolong tea has been researched to show weight loss by promoting an increase in calories used by a person daily; in other words, his/her energy expenditure is higher. Due to this increase in energy expenditure, science shows that oolong tea can increase one’s metabolism up to 20%.

Furthermore, a recent study that was conducted in Japan, China and Taiwan reported that oolong tea is rich in two particular anti-oxidants that aid in functions specific to weight loss. These are:

Tea Catechins (highest concentration of which are found in
oolong tea) which are said to inhibit the conversion of carbohydrates and glucose into fat cells. This slows the breakdown of carbohydrates into sugars and blood-insulin levels are subsequently stabilized. The prevention of sharp increases in blood-insulin levels causes the body to burn more fat cells. 1

Tea Polyphenols activate the enzyme that is responsible for dissolving triglycerides, the chemical form in which most fat exists naturally. Excess triglycerides are stored in fats cells and can lead to coronary artery disease. As levels of triglycerides decrease, so do cholesterol levels. 2

Based on these properties, it is becoming increasingly evident why oolong tea (consumed regularly) has a reputation as a safe, daily slimming and dieter’s tea. In a nutshell, it is known to:

  • Increase energy expenditure
  • Stimulate fat oxidation
  • Reduce plaque in the arteries
  • Reduce cholesterol
  • Lower blood sugar levels
